We were all created with a purpose and mandate, designed by an all-powerful, all-wise Creator to fulfill a specific role in this life (Ephesians 2:10). Over time, I’ve come to realize that God reveals this purpose to His children in various ways. One of the most significant ways He communicates this is through dreams and visions.

In this discussion, “Callings” refer to the ascension gifts mentioned in Ephesians 4:7-8, 11, while “Giftings” encompass talents, abilities, and skills given to us (Exodus 31:3; James 1:17; 1 Peter 4:10-11).

Dreams and Visions in Childhood:
Dreams and visions are often most vivid and unfiltered during childhood. Take, for example, the boy Samuel, who had a vision in which God spoke to him and revealed his purpose (1 Samuel 3:1-15). Similarly, in the Bible, God used visions to inform Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Manoah’s wife, Samson’s mother, about the birth and destiny of their children.

Parents play an irreplaceable role in helping to identify the gifts and callings of their children.

By observing their natural inclinations, listening to their dreams, and even recalling significant visions or impressions they had while expecting, parents can guide their children in discovering why God created them. Their insight and encouragement can serve as a foundation for their children to understand and embrace their purpose.

Reflection:
Think back to your early years. What did you naturally enjoy doing in church? What insights do your parents share about you? Revisiting these moments, alongside the role of God’s house and parental guidance, can reveal the unique gifts and callings God placed in your life. Understanding these brings clarity to your purpose and how you were created to serve.

Conclusion:
Understanding and embracing the gifts and callings God has placed within us is essential to living a life of purpose. Whether revealed through dreams, visions, or the guidance of those around us, especially our parents, these divine clues point us toward the unique role we were created to fulfill. By staying connected to God’s Word and His presence, we position ourselves to hear His voice clearly and walk confidently in His plan.

Take time to reflect, seek God’s guidance, and trust that He has equipped you for every good work. Your gifts are not only for your benefit but are meant to serve others and glorify Him. Step boldly into your calling, knowing that the Creator who formed you has already prepared the way for you to succeed.

You were made for a purpose—discover it, embrace it, and live it out for His glory!
