Identify Gifts & Callings – Part 4
A Personal Retreat to Identify Gifts & Callings
Waiting on God – regarding gifts and callings – is like a factory reset button. It is an act that sends us right back to God’s original plan and intent for our lives. When we wait on God in prayers, we allow Him to be able to reveal and show us exactly why He created us – this is one of the most potent methods to identifying our gifts and callings and it’s often a secondary method as compared to the other ones stated in the previous articles – which must be realized early on.
In the establishment of the early Church and the spread of the Gospel, Christ Jesus wanted His Disciples to Tarry for the Spirit – who would fill them with power, be their comforter, and also teach them into all truths – leading them into the varying callings for their lives at that level. It makes us to understand that certain level releases certain graces and it’s the Mandate that determines the Mantle. This method becomes a secondary method as it mostly comes to play after an individual has undergone all the necessary growth phases as stated in the previous articles.

A.A. Allen was a healing evangelist. Who spent 13 days in prayer and fasting for God’s direction regarding his gifts/callings. He later would become one of the greatest healing/miracle evangelists the world has ever known.
Maybe yours is in the office, hospital, politics, etc. Even maybe yours could be about entering into a new phase of life. It is imperative to realize the need to wait on God to ask for the blueprint of this new chapter in your life.
There is no limit as to what the Spirit of God is capable of doing in all spheres of life, ministry, career and/or aspirations.

Reflection
Taking time to wait on God is not just a spiritual exercise but a personal journey that demands intentionality and surrender. Reflect on your life right now—are you actively seeking God’s blueprint for your calling? Consider how much time you dedicate to waiting on Him in prayer and fasting. Reflect on moments when His Spirit has guided you and revealed unique gifts and callings. Have you recognized them, or are you still trying to discern His plan?
Ask yourself:
- What gifts or callings might God be prompting me to explore?
- Am I relying on His Spirit for enablement, or am I attempting to achieve things in my own strength?
- What steps can I take to enter into a deeper relationship with God, allowing Him to lead me into His purpose?
Reflection helps us recognize that God’s timing and process are essential. It is through these quiet moments that clarity and direction come, enabling us to fulfill the specific mandate He has for our lives.
Conclusion
Waiting on God is a powerful key to identifying and walking in our gifts and callings. Just as A.A. Allen’s dedicated time of prayer and fasting brought him into a miraculous ministry, we too are invited to experience God’s Spirit working through us in ways beyond our imagination. Whether your calling is in ministry, the workplace, or another sphere of life, there are no limits to what God can do through a yielded and obedient heart.
Remember, waiting on God is not a passive act but an intentional step of faith. It aligns us with His will and equips us with the grace and power necessary for our unique assignments. As you wait on Him, trust that His Spirit will guide you into all truths, revealing the blueprint for the next chapter of your life.
Take this message to heart, and may it inspire you to step boldly into your calling with confidence that God’s Spirit is with you every step of the way.
