Introduction
Loyalty is one of the easiest virtues to claim but one of the hardest virtues to prove. Many people believe they are loyal until life presents them with a test. It is only in moments of testing that loyalty becomes visible. This is because, loyalty becomes most visible when tested.

Loyalty becomes most visible when Tested
Let us look at these scenarios:
a). It was so easy for Peter to cut the ears of the roman soldiers when they were brawling with Jesus to arrest him. It was so easy for Peter to hurriedly voice out and say, ”No way i won’t deny you my Lord”. Yet, a day came that the same Peter vehemently denied the same Man whom he so did defend not once but thrice; thrice did he deny relations when a realistic test was now brought before him

b). After God had lifted Daniel and given him tremendous power, Daniel still worshiped God and stood by the statutes of God even into the Lion’s den, Daniel remained loyal. Daniel had full access to kings, pagans served him, he had political influence, he was extremely honored and he was wealthy. This could have been the perfect time for Daniel to rely on his authority and power to become disloyal or intelligently manage the situation to suit himself.

With just this two(2) examples, we know for sure that (1)loyalty must be tested both in tougher situation(the most obvious kind of loyalty) and (2)when things are going good(the less obvious one and less frequent)

The Analogy of Gold
I have always said this, ” That gold will forever remain gold but gold becomes useful when it is Pure. How does gold become pure ? Only through furnance of fire. This is the case of Loyalty.

Loyalty becomes most useful when it has been tested. It is through test that the heart of Loyalty is found. A pure loyalty, not one when all things seems perfect but one that is exposed to fire.

I do believe that loyalty comes in many forms. Loyalty reveals itself in every area of life, but for simplicity we can understand it under two broad dimensions: our loyalty toward God and our loyalty toward people. Let us discuss the 2 most important kind of loyalty: (1)The God Factor loyalty & (2)The Life Factor loyalty.

The God Factor loyalty
This is the loyalty based on the Christian Man and his fellowship with the Holy Spirit. As the intimacy grows over time, loyalty is bound to deepen and spiritual growth(maturity) is deepened. Thereby, making our life in Christ useful and meaningful even as His Spirit teaches, guides and direct. Now this is not the PERFECT TO PERFECT 2 way relationship. Our relationship with God is not one of two equals. It is not a perfect person relating to another perfect person. One is the Teacher, who also doubles as a comforter and one is a student who knows nothing but seeks to be forever taught and directed. It is the relationship between a perfect Teacher and an imperfect student who continually depends upon His grace.

Was Peter disloyal ? Yes in a way he was and that was one of the tests presented to him. But the greater lesson is not that Peter was disloyal forever. Peter failed one test but later became one of Christ’s most loyal apostles, even unto death.

Conclusion

Loyalty is easy to profess when life is comfortable. It is easy to sing about faithfulness when prayers are being answered, relationships are flourishing, and doors are opening. But true loyalty is not measured by our words in moments of comfort; it is measured by our response when life demands a price for what we claim to believe.

Perhaps the greatest question is not whether we think we are loyal, but whether our loyalty has ever been tested. For it is in the furnace of trials, success, opportunities, disappointments, and hidden moments that the true condition of the heart is revealed.

God is not merely looking for people who speak of loyalty. He is looking for hearts that remain steadfast whether they are in the palace like Daniel or in the courtyard like Peter; whether they are celebrated by men or standing alone before God.

So, ask yourself this: If your loyalty were put on trial today, what evidence would your life present?
